How Songleader Recruiting Works

Recruiting for the Baylor Songleaders starts long before audition weekend. Every dancer who wants to wear the Green & Gold begins the same way: by getting on our recruiting list through the form on this page. Our staff reviews every submission personally - your video, your training background, your academics, and your fit with what this program is built on. From there, recruiting runs in rounds. We watch film, we follow up with the athletes we want to see more of, and we invite dancers to camps, pre-tryout clinics, and intensives so we can get to know you in person and you can get to know Waco. Formal auditions in the spring are the last step, not the first one - by the time finals come around, we have usually been watching the athletes in that room for months. Technique matters and so does pom, jazz, and hip-hop versatility, but so does character: we are looking for dancers who want to serve, who represent Baylor well on a sideline and off it, and who are ready to be student-athletes in every sense.

What To Do To Get Recruited

Do these five things and you will be on our radar:

Submit the recruiting form below. Complete every field, including your graduation year, GPA, and dance background. Incomplete forms are the number one reason we lose track of a dancer.
Send a video we can actually evaluate. Two to four minutes, unedited, filmed full-body in a well-lit studio. Show us across-the-floor technique (leaps, turns, kicks), a short pom or jazz combo, and 30 seconds of freestyle. Do not send a competition highlight reel with cuts every two counts.
Come see us in person. Our camps, intensives, and pre-tryout clinics are the fastest way to move from a name on a list to an athlete we know.
Take care of your academics and your admission file. You have to be admitted to Baylor to audition. Start the application early and keep your GPA where it needs to be - we track it.
